Dir. Terri Timley / USA / 2009
A really good example of how to visually communicate the effects of Synaesthesia. I am thinking along similar lines to some of the simpler concepts seen here, such as the young boy with the vinyls and the dictophone. With my lack of expertise however, I very much doubt I’d be able to pull off something quite so stylized, but I think this film is an important starting point for getting ideas.
My aim is to include a lot more dialogue, explaining the condition rather than creating a visually heavy piece. This is why I’d love to be able to include someone who has Synaesthesia, if possible. If not, I’m happy to have scenes acted out in a way that I can communicate the same ideas, so I’m going to plan in such a way that I’m not dependent on resources I may not be able to actually obtain.
